how close have you gotten?

3 years ago#1My closest is 12 the second closest was 52. I'm re-examining my luck after MooSaysTheCow got the third and forth tickets in one raffle.

I was really frustrated about this as well. As I looked through the top 10, I saw the same few names multiple times. Very frustrating. I'm trying not to be negative because I think what Raffstar is doing is great. At the same time, it does make you want to give up.
Our luck will turn around...

3 years ago#4I can relate, Rach_erb but I know some people are checking this every hour, having a phone that supports javascript would really help me. It's like a million monkeys typing, eventually it'll work out in your favor if you stick to it.

Well, I'm a teacher. I don't have a job where I can check every hour. I go to the gym 6 days a week, go visit friends, volunteer in a womens shelter, travel...just stay busy. I wouldn't want to be so stuck on checking. So, for a person like me...maybe this isn't something that will pay off.
For those of you who it does work for, keep at it and support good causes while you're at it. I would challenge you to donate an hour of your time a week, or even a month, to volunteering. That has priceless rewards.

3 years ago#6My closest I have got is 11.I have not gotten in the top 50 the last 5 prizes though and that is really frusterating.Espically when I see alot of the same names up there or when I have more tickets then the person who won.

3 years ago#7The closest I have gotten is second on the Vudu. Yes I sat around for about 45 minutes before the other guy grabbed it. No I have only reached the top ten twice and maybe the top 50 four or so times. I usually land in the top 500 tickets drawn. Just because you have drawn more tickets, does not mean you will always come ahead. You simply increase your odds of coming ahead. Because it is random, there is always that minuscule chance that the guy who got one ticket will come ahead of you. This is just like a real raffle in that sense. And just like a real raffle, there will always be that one or two people who seem to be winning everything. Its just how the world works.

3 years ago#8There has to be a reason they are winning. That the way it usaully works in the real world too. There will be people saying that the raffle is rigged.Just like here some people are saying other people are cheating or up to no good because they see them in the top ten all the time.I mean that no good if people think they don't have chance of winning and it's slow people that want to join the site.Because I am just talking on personal level here.I have tried to get some my friends to join this site so some of the raffles would move faster.I having a real hard time of it.Because they ask what have I have won. Then I say nothing. Then they say I am wasting my time and that I am never going to win anything.I think I will though so I am going to keep until I do.Hopefully my luck will turn around some day.

3 years ago#9I get tickets for the ones I really want to win about every two hours except at night but that's cause I'm on maternity leave so I really have nothing better to do with my time. The closest I've come is ninth on the ae gift card one a while back

For all of those busy folks out there, it appears this site is going to start having more daily refresh raffles instead of hourly refresh, so we will all have a more fair shot. It makes sense that with a smaller community you would want to give people the chance to get more tickets so that the raffles won't go on too long but they've made it clear that the "standard" raffles will be more common.
I should also point out I recently received ticket #4 so that is encouraging too.
