I've yet to get a captacha even once yet. Just did 9 in a row. I don't see how your speed would affect it. Once you click it wouldn't matter how fast it gets there.

Well X, maybe you don't ever get captchas. Whoopdedoo for you,but the Captchas drive me nuts. I get tons on most days. It is an idiotic idea since the system is already set to prevent more than one ticket per hour per prize or in some cases one ticket per day. it is also not effective in preventing the same group of people from dominating the top ten of nearly every prize. So just what is the value except to annoy. It is particularly annoying when I go to get the first ticket for the hour and that thing pops up. it is obviously set to pop up after so many tickets are drawn regardless of how much time has passed. When i am trying to get a ticket before I got to bed or when I only have a couple of minutes before I have to leave to go somewhere, it is infuriating to have that Captcha crap pop up. It is also infuriating to have several pop up in quick succession. If you want to limit the number of tickets per day or the number of different games played per day, I have no problem with that because it levels the playing field for everyone. Just lose the GD capcha system or at least refine it to work properly to prevent real hacking attempts, not players simply following the laid out procedures to get tickets. You have done nothing to remedy this fiasco of a system since soccerguru first complained about the captchas back in April. I agree with previous posters that the captchas come in waves where at times they are occasional and are tolerable and then they will suddenly get out of hand indicating really horrible algorithms. As TsuaTsai pointed out, the Captchas aren't going to stop anyone who is really determined to cheat. Again, the best way to do that is to limit the number of tickets per day per game or just the total per day per account and IP address. That should be easy enough for you to monitor. It would have the added benefit of making it more difficult for the exact same people to dominate the standings of nearly every ticket draw. You want to reward ongoing effort, but I would think you would want to limit the efforts from reaching the level of absurdity, assuming these people actually have no life at all as opposed to having found a way to successfully cheat despite your aggravating captchas that clearly don't appear to be achieving their intended results anyway. As a final point, it's not like I have ever actually won anything in all the months I have been playing, because i have yet to win anything on this site. I am just trying to have an enjoyable time playing without the aggravation of frequent Captcha popups.

The system is to prevent automated programs so that the ads are actually seen, there used to be numerous people with 24 tickets a day on the hourly giveaways and that lessened with the captcha system.

The captcha system isn't intended prevent people who stay here getting tickets all the time, as long as a person is doing it, the system isn't supposed to do anything aside from random robot checks.

I don't mind the current captcha system, it does seem to have quieted since I posted here with a problem.  People who use bots (no I never did, but know someone who did) do so to stay active when they are away, so I believe limiting a number of captcha checks per account is reasonable, but again, I don't mind the current system.

Then set up the main screen to require a captcha input every time before clicking "get ticket". That would at least be a consistent requirement on everyone all the time like most sites use any more to curb spambot posts. I am not a robot and I feel hugely insulted when a nastily worded screen pops up addressing me in a derogatory fashion demanding that I enter the letters listed because by the wording of the window it is implied that i am a cheater. Again, I have never won anything and i rarely have even come remotely close because i don't get any where near the number of tickets the dominating leaders get. I just plug away and do what I can. Mark my words: if you don't follow some of the good suggestions given to you by the users or come up with a major revamp of some of your systems, I think your whole setup will ultimately fail due to it's many shortcomings that have been brought to your attention. It doesn't matter what you claim the reality is of anything. Success or failure invariably rests upon perception. Thus insistence on the rightness orf your system and approach does little good. Finding ways to change the impression that the users are getting will get the job done. The weekly prizes are valuable in that every person signed up has an equal chance of being selected to win, at least in theory. The one ticket per day games are great , particularly if you get in early, because there is a very large window of opportunity to maintain your entries to keep up with the no lifers and cheaters. Hourly ticket games give everyone a chance to keep busy, but gives the "no lifers" too much opportunity to forge way ahead of normal people in the ticket count and that is not a good thing, it is a potential disaster for your setup for people to come to the site and see all the same people always at the top of the game board. You would be far better off to dump the top 10 list if you are unwilling to curtail the number of tickets a player can get per day or per day per prize as you prefer.

I removed your previous post due to insulting and disrespectful behavior.  You are more than welcome to disagree with Raffstar policies and/or other members, but please be civil in doing so or you will be suspended.

We appreciate any and all feedback and while we may not always respond individually, we take each point into account when making adjustments to the system.

    Why CAPTCHAs Appear:

The system goes into effect when a member consistently receives a ticket every hour for up to 8 hours or more. If you are getting 8-15+ tickets per giveaway in the same 8-15 hr period, you are guaranteed to run into a CAPTCHA.  Each time they are accepted, we can reasonably ensure that a human is manually getting the ticket. They will appear more often as the pattern continues, because otherwise cheaters could enter the code manually once every so often and then let their scripts run in-between.

Furthermore, the site average is less than 8 tickets per member, per giveaway, per day.  We feel that inputting a 4-6 digit security code in exchange for an above-average number of tickets in a free prize drawing is a fair and simple way to foster healthy levels of competition -- and our data shows that it is working.  You can simply look at the leaderboards and see how they are no longer dominated by 500+ ticket differences between power users and regular members.

Since launching the system in April, we have made many adjustments and continue to do so as necessary.

    What CAPTCHAs Do:

Force cheaters to manually accept tickets with increasing frequency until scripting becomes pointless.Balance the playing field between regular and power users by (briefly) disrupting the rhythm of ticket getting.

    What CAPTCHAs Do NOT Do:

They do not cause your account to be flagged or monitored. They do not dethrone the (valid) power users at the top of the leaderboard. They do not limit the overall number of tickets you can receive per giveaway, per day. They do not affect more than 1% of all our members.

Top 10 List and Other Concerns:

There are some good points about the negative impact of the Top 10 leaderboards and the number of tickets available per day and we have heard them.  We have been weighing the pros and cons for each and will implement changes based on our own internal judgment. Some changes may be immediate while others are delayed or rejected due to feasibility or other concerns. Please be patient; this is a small startup with limited resources.  You have the choice to participate or not without being charged a dime.

By the way, thank you for the detailed explanation of how the system works. it helps to have a reasonable idea on why things occur as they do. Those two previous posts of captcha popups are after many hours of play, since I got to be home all day. Just providing specific information for anyone who is interested in an actual example of what you are talking about in your explanation. However i do get captchas after only 4 hours of play. I will list that tomorrow if it happens.

I think the current system is reasonable, my only issue is the lack of compatibility between safari and the audio function, have you reported the issue to apple?  I would but I cannot point to a page their developers can see it without joining the site and getting lots of tickets.  Perhaps you could setup a CAPTCHA for account creation too, or send them a special link where one can always be found.

I don't believe we were aware of that issue.  I will add it to the list of things to take care of!
