It's probably a lost cause at this point, but I feel that the people who run the site should show some acknowledgment for the people who never got their prize. I won a $25 Home Depot gift card on September 17, 2009. It is now September 20, 2010. I have yet to recieve my prize or any response to my repeated attempts to contact them. I would at least appreciate an explanation as to why they would deny the winners the prizes they WON. What's going on, Raffstar?
P.S. If it means anything, I refuse to enter any more giveaways. I will also tell friends who use this website to do the same.

I have been playing on this site from somewhere near the beginning and frankly, I'm getting bored. The number of ongoing games have seriously declined lately. More important, the same people seem to dominate all the lists. Thankfully, a good number of light players periodically win a prize, yet too many heavy players win too frequently. Drastic changes are need for this site to survive, in my opinion. It's not what you can "prove" with statistics. It's the perceptions of the players that is going to determine loyalty and widespread participation. Some aspects of the site, such as knowing when the game is ending, is very useful. Seeing the same names on top of every list all the time while ones self is mired in 50th place or lower is discouraging despite the knowledge that in reality any player with so much as one ticket can win any prize. A good part of the fun of using this particular site is the thrill of seeing ones own name at the top of some lists as a result of the effort and time one puts in. That is impossible to do except for a few hours at the beginning of a new quick game, due to the fact that some players are able to post every hour or very nearly so 24 hours a day for week after week. Interesting that a certain individual never misses getting a ticket in any hour for all the games the player dominates, yet the same player never claimed a prize that he had won in an hour he still got more tickets. Again, I think a lot of us are here more to have various kinds of fun in addition to hoping to win an occasional prize. I am fortunate in the respect that since I am retired, I can usually catch the one ticket per day games early in their posting, so I can be at or near the top of those lists as a reward for my diligence. Yet, I still think it would be nice to devise some sort of workable restrictions, if possible, to make it possible for more players to attain the top ten on more lists. It is especially aggravating to see a heavy player with three slots on the winner board while my best draw on that game might be 475th. I know that is just the way that random draws work when players with multiple tickets are involved. Problem is that when you have many games where the near 24 hours a day players have a couple of thousand tickets compared to 30 or 40 tickets for the average player, that is going to happen all too frequently and spoil some of the fun for the lighter players. I question whether a game site dominated by a relatively small core of heavy players, including some who may have found a way to automate their play, is the situation the supporting advertisers and potential supporting advertisers really want to see. Hopefully you are still working out ways to control and enhance the thrill of play for all the participants, in order to eventually make this a "must visit and play" site for huge numbers of site visitors. Right now, I think you still have a long ways to go to get this site ready for "prime time."

I'm really curious on how you guys are doing on your advertising. It seems like it has been a year and the prizes are still sort of the same; gift cards, ipods, bags and occasional xbox 360. Is it because you don't have the traffic you thought you would, or enought people don't know about Raffstar? Do you guys need help with advertizing? I think that the Raffstar members can help with that. I'm a college student, and we have places to put up posters everywhere, how great would it be to put up some posters for Raffstar. Just an idea, expand beyond facebook, myspace or whatever else. Any more ideas anyone?

Hi, I brought this up on a raffle for an x-box live giftcard and it didn't go over very well.

I've mentioned this site to many people, but they didn't see many prizes they wanted so they didn't stay. I frowned on the x-box live giftcard for several reasons.

1. It requires specific hardware to be useful.

2. It requires specific interest (downloadable games) to be useful.

3. The specific interest is common to people already using the site. (so it doesn't add many users)

4. It doesn't look easy to sell compared to a piece of hardware.

5. Another prize could do the same thing and more, without costing more. (Amazon sells x-box live points and games so an Amazon giftcard would be just as good for someone looking to purchase something on x-box live.)

Another prize that I don't think adds many new users is the papercrafts magazine. It doesn't require hardware like the x-box live card, but it still requires a specific interest, can't be sold, and could be just as good as another prize like a giftcard to a store that sells it; but I do appreciate that it isn't geared towards the current users of this site, so that may help attract others to join.

My favorite prizes are the ones everybody would want and will attract more users like the general store (or credit card company) giftcards, the atomic earbuds since almost everyone has something that can use headphones such as the computer they use to come here, iPods since the person already has access to a computer, or netflix subscriptions since DVD players are very common. Blu-ray players, consoles, DVD players, and Tivos (or other DVRs) are good since most people have TVs but some people might not actually know what they are or just not want them. The good news on all hardware is that you can sell it, that also goes with specific DVDs, cell phones, and portable consoles like the DSi or PSP.

What are other suggestions for good and not-so-good prizes?
