Multiple Accounts, Bots, & Other Shady Ways of Improving Your Odds
Though covered in our Official Rules & Regulations (listed under the details of each prize), we’ve been silent on what constitutes cheating on Raffstar and what is considered fair play. Our system picks winners at random, ensuring even the highest ticket-holder still only gets a moderate chance at success. But as our userbase grows, so do the number of attempts at beating the system. So let me clear about one thing: cheating can kill this site’s financial support, which means killing the support going to individual charities.
This month we will begin cracking down on accounts suspected of cheating.
WHAT IS CHEATING?
Cheating is any attempt to manipulate the results of the system other than manually clicking the “Get Ticket” button within the allowable time for each giveaway. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Creating multiple accounts* to get extra tickets
- Using a script, application, or automated bot to automatically get tickets (even if it stays within the allowable time).
- Hacking or injecting code into the system for any reason whatsoever.
* Individual members in a household may each have separate accounts, but if one member’s account is caught cheating, all accounts may be affected.
WHY IS CHEATING BAD?
- It discourages advertisers from participating.
Companies are paying for actual people to see their ads. If those impressions start coming from a bot or automated script, we can say goodbye to the financial backers of this site permanently. - It discourages others from playing.
When a new member sees that someone already has over 2,000 tickets for a prize, they’ll turn right around and leave the site thinking there’s no chance. Without members, there’s no reason for advertisers to stick around either. - It causes problems with our system.
Our site was designed to run a specific way, and any foreign code or interference can generate bugs and errors that affect everyone playing.
WHAT IF MY ACCOUNT IS FLAGGED?
We will be rolling out new security measures this month with three forms of response based on the severity of cheating involved:
- Account Handicap
Member will be forced to verify their authenticity each time they get a ticket. - Account Suspension
Member will not be able to get tickets for an extended period of time. - Account Ban
Member (and similar accounts, including families) will be permanently banned from Raffstar.
We realize there are some members who eagerly (and fairly) get tickets with startling regularity and we’ll seek to resolve any confusion as it arises.
WHAT IF I NO LONGER CHEAT?
If a flagged account resumes normal activity before we contact the account holder, we will not pursue the issue. But if an account remains flagged when we start cracking down, the account holder will be permanently banned as an example to the other members.
How do you know if your account is flagged? A good rule of thumb is if you’re still cheating, you’re probably flagged. This is your ONLY warning.
We appreciate all all of our users who have been playing fairly since launch! If you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact us! Thank you.

Shouldn’t more then one person using an account count as cheating? It could make it possible to get tickets 24 hours a day.

By my count, Blackandwhite1 appears to be getting tickets 24 hours a day or very nearly so on every prize put in for since opening an account. There are several others that are close and are consistently near the top of every drawing. Even though the prize drawings are random, seeing the same names at the top all the time is discouraging, especially when I am usually in the high twentys at best, yet I get the insulting “Whoa Cowboy…” popup periodically as though I may be cheating. Makes me consider finding a better use for my time, inasmuch as I have been doing this for months and have not won anything while the players that appear to never sleep, in some cases have won multiple times. That appearance is hurting your site and you need to either enforce existing rules or create new rules and or software, for instance making sure that no account can get more than 12 tickets or fewer per giveaway per day. No one including me should be putting in entries more than 12 hours per day. I agree that it should be one person per account, one account per household and the suggested restriction would assist in making that happen. Also maybe only one prize claim should be allowed every 30 to 60 days per account.

I response to the other posters limit of 12 tickets per day. I commonly get 12-13 tickets a day on my days off from work. I set a timer for every hour and come here. However on days I work I get 2 or 3 if that. This averages out so typically am in the top 25-50.
The site is set up so it can be done hourly. That sets a limit of 24 tickets a day. Now how people could consistently get that limit is not clear since we obviously have to sleep. There should be stuff done and it is being done captchas ect to limit this but changing the structure of the site would not be the right choice. That would be hindering me on days where I don’t work and choose to not get as much sleep as I should which leads to more tickets.

The limit for a human is 23 in a 24 hour day. The time starts after you say Get Ticket and cannot be done in zero amount of time. 23 tickets each at 1 second each is 23 hours and 23 seconds (23 seconds into the 24th hour) and even a bot or script should not be able to get more than 23 in any 24 hour period.

@channce
I think you’ve got some serious flaws in your thinking. By your own admission, someone like myself who gets up at 8 in the AM and goes to bed anywhere between 12 and 2 AM should only be limited to getting 12 tickets, why?????? I am a stay @ home dad, and your saying I can’t use every hour I have in a day that I’m awake to get a ticket. That is utter nonsense!!! I’m for sure gonna get my 16 to 18 tickets everyday!!!
